Last year, for my youngest daughter’s 5th birthday, she was having her first FULL class party, and we wanted to do it in style. But, in RecessionHome.com obsessive compulsive party fashion, we needed to do it ALL on budget. I had to prove it cost less than a Chuck E. Cheese pizza party — that was roughly $250.00, for the amount of kids we had coming.
Thumbing through my many subscriptions, I found EXACTLY the right event. And, as my big last day of thirties party was the night before, I needed easy. Simple. Fun. When I saw the Parent’s Magazine Backyard Halloween Party – I knew it was PERFECT for an enthusiastic Kinder Class…
I loved the idea of the Spider Walk…
The ghoully mystery bowls…
The apple monsters… (which we transformed into cookie monsters!)
The Halloween Veggies to look like candy corn, and dips in mini pumpkins…
Riiiiiiiiiiight.
A party at home should be less expensive than renting a space, and making a big pot of chili and a bunch of tidbits should cost less than ordering catered food (even boxed pizzas for the masses!).
Because of excellent friends and neighbors helping with food prep, pictures, and decorations, we had 28 kids over, entertained, and stuffed with good food and treats, for well under what we would have paid for a visit to Chuck E. Cheese. And, this year, we’re spooking it up Jack Skellington, Nightmare Before Christmas Style…
Here’s what we’re thinking as a tempting teaser!
Happy haunting!
