Sevenly proves people are the core of business – This week’s Kind Campaign – what one company can do to raise money for a good cause

Sevenly People Matter

Sevenly People Matter

The climate of purchasing is changing. Companies like Sevenly are changing the face of the core behind corporations. The people.

How can a company that sells t-shirts turn around and share their message with others? By donating $7 from every purchase to a different charity every week. If you look at this week’s campaign (Kind Campaign) — (these are the hearts behind the Kind Campaign…and one I’d love to bring to our school here in Southern California…) The statistic is shattering. This year over 13 million children will experience a form of bullying and oftentimes it’s girls targeting other girls. I’ve seen it. I’ve lived it. It’s ugly, scarring, and can take YEARS to get past. Thanks to the Finding Kind documentary, and the Kind Campaign, these young women are making strides to make changes.

My readers know my heart–if you can halt bullying early, chances are, you can change the world. Sevenly is doing their part right now to make that happen. Sevenly made this 1 minute video to explain the heart of the campaign…and it tugs. Deeply.

And this is why the Sevenly Kind Campaign caught my attention — as bullying is a world-wide problem.

About This Week’s Charity

Kind Campaign is an internationally recognized movement, documentary and school program based upon the powerful belief in KINDness that brings awareness and healing to the negative and lasting effects of girl-against-girl “crime.”

The Problem

Has there ever been a time you were picked on? Do you remember the way you felt in that moment? While it is likely we’ve all heard positive words, isn’t it strange that the memories we seem to hold on to are the one’s that at some point in our life, have destroyed our self-image? This year it is reported that 13 million children will experience a form of bullying and many of those will be incidents of girls targeting other girls.

The Solution

This week we are partnering with Kind Campaign to fund school assemblies and programs that broadcast an anti-bullying message, schoolwide. Each assembly will reach hundreds of young girls who are affected by bullying and encourage kindness among students.

Sevenly works because people genuinely care. Beneath all the social hubbub and hype, people do want to make a difference.
As stated on the Sevenly website, “By creating weekly cause campaigns where customers could purchase products that gave $7 to a weekly charity, Sevenly successfully unlocked not only a way to crowd-fund for causes, but to drive massive social awareness as well.”
Sevenly uses words like “intentional generosity,” and “love for others,” in their business model. Of course, this is a process.
“Our model is a funnel. There are millions of people who have never supported a charity before, so asking for a monetary donation might be weird :/ So we thought, let’s encourage people to donate their social influence first. Next, let’s allow people to purchase a product that gives money to a cause they support, and last, let’s encourage these donors to connect deeper with these charities.” Stated the owners. And it’s working.
By the Sevenly website totals, this company has accumulated over $3.3 million dollars, helped well over 1 million individuals, and in the world of social influence, has had their business shared over 250 thousand times.
The total numbers on the Sevenly site are live. If you’re reading this in months to come, they’ll be grander, larger, just like this larger than life corporation. “We’ve seen millions of people donate their social influence, and hundreds of thousands buy awareness products for the causes they support. Overall, we’re witnessing our mission unfold before our eyes. A generation moving toward generosity & a world beginning to realize that people matter.”
So this week, Sevenly caught our attention. And here’s hoping we can catch the attention of the Kind Campaign, and have them come to a little school in the tiny town of Temecula, California, that could use some of their wisdom.

Reblogged this on Temecula Grapevine and commented:

Temecula, what are YOUR thoughts on Cause Marketing? Are you more likely to make a purchase when your favorite charity will benefit?

Just came across this lovely campaign! They do wonderful work. I actually hit upon Kind Campaign (and your lovely post) doing research on a newspaper article I’m intending to write: it will be about complimenting and its beautiful effects when people actually mean what they say. I try to collect compliments, so if you want to take part – just submit a compliment you recently paid or received by commenting on this post: http://nothingofthekind.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/my-best-compliments/.
