April Fool! Recipes to keep EVERYONE guessing!

Dessert for Dinner!!

We are serving up dessert for dinner tomorrow night! and dinner for dessert!

Using our Tangled Tower Cake Marshmallow Fondant Frosting recipe to make the hard to find “peas and carrots candy” — (a lot of work for a few bits of sweet vegetable treats!) this ought to be a fun trick to play on Dad!

We’ve got the marshmallow fondant made and resting. The girls are at a playdate, and then soccer. I’m going to clean up the mess, that I assure you is LEGENDARY. Powdered sugar + 5 year old + 7 year old = CHAOS!!

It doesn’t matter how it turns out, it only matters that we are having a BALL.

The dinner part of this dessert bonanza is below… we are doing a family favorite: Mama’s Making Meatloaf!

And, topping it with yellow “meringue” mashed potatoes… so, dinner will be a version of the below picture… not exactly the shepherd’s pie you see here… but CLOSE!

I love a good meatloaf, and with it, some good sense of April Fool’s Day Fun!

Other April Fool’s game ideas:

  1. Fill the bathtub with balloons. (extra credit if they’re water balloons!)
  2. Stitch dad’s boxer shorts together (okay, I don’t have the time for this one, and I’m not sure he’ll find it funny, so…)
  3. Put a GINORMOUS stuffed animal behind the wheel of his truck/car the night before. That way, in the morning, when he heads off to work, he’ll find himself not the only one in the driver’s seat!
  4. Make him a WORMY APPLE for his lunch box!

Faux Berry Pie

Do you have a great April Fool you’re playing on your kids? I bet you SuperMom does… Have to head on over there to see what she’s cooking up this year!

Happy April Fool! and remember, it’s only funny if EVERYONE LAUGHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When my kids were only 3 & 4 I served them plastic food for breakfast. They didn’t know what to think of that. So then I switched it to real icecream for breakfast but gave them a very dull butter knife to eat it with. They were determined to figure out how to eat it like that! Finally I gave them a spoon. It was a fun morning and I video taped it all. Can’t wait to try your dinner idea!
